I loaded up on mini Crunchie bars and Freddo Frogs and baby Moros and Chupa Chups and waited for the trick or treaters to start arriving on Saturday night and they were absolutely gorgeous. The first three were young men of 10 or 11, immaculately attired as Prohibition gangsters complete with plastic cigars. When I held out the bowl of goodies, they each took one of the wrapped chocolates and said thank you very much. I told them they could take more than one and their eyes lit up and they each took about three or four before heading off thanking me once again. The others were the same – all of them had made a real effort with their constumes; all of them were very well mannered and all of them made a point of thanking me. My only disappointment was that I only had five groups of trick or treaters come to my door. I have loads of chocolates left which is a real danger! Still, there’s always Christmas. How did the rest of you find Halloween?
Lovely little monsters.

Complete opposite of yours… we had hoardes of the monsters but very few of them actually bothered to put any effort into their costumes.
At one point we must have had a group of atleast 15 at the door… and thats when I decided I was only going to give lollies to those who had put in some effort into their costumes… but we still managed to run out of lollies.
Ended up locking the gates and expecting to find our house egged in the morning; thankfully this wasn’t the case.
My only other gripe about the night was seeing some much older kids going trick or treating. While I think its fine, I just think a lot of people would have found the older ones more menacing. Its bad enough to have complete strangers knocking on the door demanding sweets, but grown kids who can do damage? Hrrmmm…
